Compiled from travel guidesTransit Cards and Passes: From Suica to the City Pass
If you stay within the city, an IC card is the easiest. For trips outside the city, consider the SUNQ Pass or JR Kyushu Pass; if you ride buses a lot, a one-day pass may save money.

- For Yufuin, Beppu and similar, consider the SUNQ Pass or the JR Kyushu Rail Pass
- Fare comparison

How to do it
- If you mainly stay in the city, get an IC card (a product picked up at the airport, or one issued locally).
- On days you will ride the bus 4 or more times, compare with a one-day pass.
- If you plan trips to Yufuin or elsewhere outside the city, work out the pass prices first.
