Seoul subway · Use a restroom outside the gates and re-board within 15 minutes

Many stations have their restrooms outside the gates. According to Seoul City, re-boarding within 15 minutes of exiting costs nothing extra on Lines 1–9 and the Ui-Sinseol and Sillim lines.

Tap out with a transit card such as T-money

Fare rules can change; check card types and limits with Seoul Metro or at the station office.

How to do it

  1. Check on the station map or a map app whether the restroom is inside or outside the gates.
  2. If it is outside, tap out with your card, use the restroom and tap back in with the same card within 15 minutes.
  3. Single-journey tickets and passes may differ; if unsure, show the sentence below at the station office.
